The Last Podcast on the Left is a weekly podcast featuring comedian and podcast sponsor Ben Kissel, podcast producer and researcher Marcus Parks, and comedian and actor Henry Zebrowski (who joined in the next installment), most of whom are longtime friends. Released each Friday the episodes are generally one hour in length, together with the hosts investigating the horrors of the planet both real and imagined. Previous episodes have explored the subjects of serial killers, conspiracy theories, UFO sightings, ghosts, and readings of fan-submitted creepypastas. Kissel, Parks, and Zebrowski tour with live performances of this podcast and produce The Last Stream about the Left, a live-streaming spinoff series about the Adult Swim website. In the post-Trump age, using a reality TV celebrity holding our nation's highest office, tales like Kissel's are becoming more common -- droves of young men and women are becoming involved and seeking public office. On the 1 hand, the 2016 election showed us that applicants don't have to be qualified to win. On the flip side, it was a rude awakening the dissatisfied have to take politics into their own hands. Enter Ben Kissel. At his "day job," Kissel -- along with co-hosts Marcus Parks and Henry Zebrowski -- hosts a true-crime-meets-paranormal humor podcast. Last Podcast on the Left is ranked second on iTunes' comedy graph and attracts fans throughout the world. But like many dismayed young voters, Kissel chose 2016 as a wake-up call to run for office. As someone who's been recorded in podcasts and on the radio for eight years, Kissel acknowledges that a lot of individuals hesitate to run for office for fear of criticism or having their past vulnerable. His advice? Own it. After all, he says, everybody has their own past, and as long as you "treat the voters with respect and humanity," voters can "accept all the defects that go with that individual, provided that this individual is ready to accept them." Much like the offenders he covers on Last Podcast, Kissel says with a laugh, "a lot of politicians are sociopaths with no ideology. Obviously not all of these, but we want the people who have scruples, morals, and are worried about their own failings." For someone who confronts the worst of humankind with dark humor at his day job, 6'7" tall Kissel truly believes in the best of people. He believes in redemption, sincerity, and good goals. These traits might seem just as odd in a true-crime aficionado since they do in a politician, but they are the very same traits that provide a young, non-politician the unique ability to serve the general public. Regardless of what happens on Tuesday there is no losing. "The fact that we're on the ballot is incredible, which we're ready to inspire individuals to run or participate in the political process -- that is a win. That's a massive triumph," he states. Kissel wants others to take heart in this message, too: "Losing is a big fear for people, but who cares! Just get out there, and if you continue getting out, keep doing it in any field, you're gonna triumph." Read More - Ben Kissel Bio
